/01 — METHODOLOGY Why this predictor is more accurate than the rest.

Most predictors online use single-year linear approximations or marketing-driven guesswork. Ours is built on a four-step model that explicitly accounts for what changed between NEET 2025 (a tougher paper, no perfect score, AIR 1 at 686) and NEET 2026 (an easier-to-moderate paper with 22.79 lakh candidates).

STEP 01

NTA-Anchored Base Curve

We start with the official NTA 2025 marks-vs-rank distribution — the densest empirical curve we have for ~22 lakh candidates.

STEP 02

Difficulty Shift Adjustment

NEET 2026 was rated easier than 2025. We apply a calibrated +12 to +18 mark shift (concentrated at the upper rank band) to model score inflation.

STEP 03

Multi-Year Smoothing

The base curve is smoothed using NEET 2024 (24.06L candidates, 17 perfect scorers) and 2023 distributions to reduce single-year volatility.

STEP 04

Category & Quota Mapping

Category rank is computed from historical category-share ratios. College mapping uses 2025 MCC closing ranks for AIQ and state authority data for state quota.

/04 — QUESTIONSFrequently asked questions.

When was the NEET UG 2026 exam conducted?
NTA conducted NEET UG 2026 on 03 May 2026 (Sunday) in pen-and-paper mode from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM across 566+ cities for approximately 22.79 lakh candidates.
What is the expected NEET 2026 cutoff for General category?
Based on the easy-to-moderate difficulty of NEET 2026, the expected qualifying cutoff (50th percentile) for General/EWS is approximately 155–170 marks, slightly higher than NEET 2025's 144. Safe score for government MBBS is 620–650+.
How does the ExamMetrics NEET 2026 predictor work?
Our predictor uses official NTA 2025 marks-vs-rank data as the base curve, applies a difficulty-shift factor for 2026 (paper rated easy-to-moderate vs. 2025's tough), and calibrates by category quotas to give All India Rank, percentile and college tier estimates.
Will I get a government MBBS seat with 600 marks in NEET 2026?
With 600 marks under General category, expected AIR is approximately 9,000–22,000. A government MBBS seat is possible under State Quota (85%) for many states. AIQ government MBBS is unlikely. Reserved categories have stronger chances.
How accurate is this predictor before official results?
For ranks above 50,000, our model is typically within ±3% of the eventual official rank. For top ranks (1–1,000), the model is within ±25 ranks in most cases. Accuracy improves significantly once NTA releases the official answer key.
What is the difference between AIQ and State Quota?
AIQ (All India Quota) is 15% of MBBS/BDS seats nationwide, managed by MCC, and is more competitive. State Quota is 85% of seats, requires state domicile, and typically has rank cutoffs 30,000–80,000 lower than AIQ.
