03 · SPECIAL CASES

Extra documents only when you claim them

Minority status

Management-quota candidates claiming minority status should prepare the applicable linguistic or religious minority certificate.

NRI status

  • Embassy-issued NRI status of the financial supporter, or the applicable OCI card
  • Relationship certificate and supporter’s valid Indian passport
  • Supporter’s NRE bank passbook

7.5% government-school quota

Students who completed Higher Secondary before the 2022-23 batch need a Class VI-XII government-school bonafide certificate from the district CEO. For the 2022-23 batch onward, the notice says details are checked through EMIS.

Avoid preventable document problems

Scan both sidesThe notice specifically asks for both sides of Classes X, XI and HSC records.

Questions about counselling documents

What documents are mandatory for Tamil Nadu MBBS counselling?
The Selection Committee notice asks all candidates to keep the NEET UG 2026 Admit Card, Class X, Class XI and HSC or equivalent marksheets, and the Transfer Certificate ready. Study, community, nativity, parent, income and eligibility certificates apply only when the candidate makes the corresponding claim.
Who needs a nativity certificate?
The notification lists the Nativity Certificate as applicable rather than universal. Candidates relying on a Tamil Nadu nativity claim should follow the current application and prospectus instructions and keep the relevant parent document ready where communal reservation is claimed.
Who needs NRI documents?
Only candidates claiming Management Quota NRI status need the NRI supporter evidence listed by the Selection Committee: embassy-issued NRI status or the applicable OCI card, relationship proof, the supporter’s valid Indian passport, and the supporter’s NRE bank passbook.
Can I attend counselling if one document is missing?
The document-readiness notice does not describe concessions for missing records. Check the current prospectus and counselling instructions on the official Selection Committee portal before registration or verification, because requirements depend on the claim being made.
